FAQ's

  • Am I the right candidate for JETT Plasma Treatment?
No botox or filler three weeks prior to treatment. JETT Plasma is not suitable for individuals who have: a pacemaker; epilepsy; pregnant; cancer patients; diabetes; metal implants; acute inflammatory condition; excessive amounts of skin to remove which is better suited for surgery. severe cardiovascular disorders; uncontrolled blood pressure; blood disorders; autoimmune diseases; pigmentation disorders; Fitzpatrick scale 5 and 6; lupus; keloids; herpes simplex; shingles; psoriasis; active eczema; colds; infections; retinal and allergies to lidocaine. Ideal candidates for the treatment are individuals with lax crepe-like skin around the eyes, neck, mouth or other targeted areas. Clients should be in good health at the time of appointment.
  • JETT Plasma: How does it work?
The medical plasma device works on the face and body by using the device’s electric charge to ionise the gases emitted just above the skin to create true plasma (an ionised gas charge). This tiny arc of plasma, when it comes into contact with the skin, causes the skin tissue to instantly shorten, contract and tighten showing instant visible results. Your skin’s natural healing process then goes into overdrive and encourages your body to create new fibroblast cells. These cells are responsible for the development of collagen which will travel to the area treated to create natural volume for tighter more youthful-looking skin. Improvements are visible immediately as the treatment causes the skin cells to pull together and tighten the skin's surface but the final results will be achieved 16 weeks following treatment.
  • What is the procedure?
The procedure begins with a consultation during which a highly trained and fully insured JETT Plasma expert will evaluate your skin, discuss contraindications and answer questions regarding the treatment. Best to arrive with clean skin without make-up on the treated area. A numbing cream is applied to the area. During treatment, it is normal to feel heat in the area being treated which may be mildly to moderately uncomfortable (similar to sunburn discomfort). Individual pain levels differ and some areas are more sensitive than others. The numbing cream reduces some of the discomfort during the treatment. Treatment time usually takes between 30 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. Immediately after treatment, you may experience a burning sensation but this should only last a few hours. A cooling gel is applied to the treated area and aftercare instructions will be provided to ensure you achieve the best results.
  • What does the recovery process look like following treatment?
Compared to cosmetic surgery, downtime is minimal. You can expect redness, swelling, and scabbing in the treated area. The swelling begins on the day following the treatment and peaks at around day three. After day 3, the swelling begins to reduce and tiny scabs form in the treated area. Scabs normally begin to fall off around day 6 and 7. Expect an average 8 day downtime. You are still able to perform your daily tasks during downtime and most patients return to work the same day, although the treated area may look unsightly (but can be disguised with a face mask or sunglasses) and for some their ability to drive may be compromised by day 3 due to swelling if the eye area has been treated which is more prone to swelling than other areas. These are simple guidelines for the average healing time but they can vary from one individual to another. They can also be compromised by not following the aftercare protocol. Also, if health is compromised, there will be an extended healing time.
  • How many treatments are required?
Dramatic results can be achieved with one treatment. The number of procedures needed per person vary according to the area treated; degree of correction needed; skin laxity; an individual’s age and response to treatment. The client is very often satisfied after one treatment, for example if the wrinkles are not too deep. However, due to the simplicity of the procedure and the affordable price, many clients opt for two or even three treatments to achieve a perfect result. The procedure may be repeated after the skin is fully regenerated, so 16 weeks after the procedure. Generally, two sessions are required.
  • How long will results last?
The client will see an immediate tightening of the skin and will experience ongoing improvement over the following four months. The results are permanent and may be visible for years but we should acknowledge that the aging process is a continuous one and the skin ages every day after the procedure. This natural aging process cannot be stopped. The results of this method are permanent but when we talk about mimic facial lines (worry lines), these may recur quickly because muscles are stronger than the skin and consequently the lines recur. Average results last from 2 to 4 years.
  • What are the risks of JETT plasma?
JETT Plasma is a very low risk procedure when compared to more invasive cosmetic procedures such as botox, fillers and cosmetic surgery. However, no procedure is without risks and it is important to review and understand the contraindications and risks including swelling, bruising; scabbing and crusting. Please read the JETT plasma contraindications in the ‘Am I the right candidate for JETT Plasma?’ and also ask the JETT Plasma expert if you are concerned about a condition that is not listed.
